Why should I brush twice daily? (FOR ADULTS)
-After we see rays of the sun till we see calming moon
light, we eat variety of food. We drink various beverages. The tooth enamel,
which is the outermost part of the tooth, is the strongest layer.
- Mouth has a specific environment that is called pH of the mouth;
this pH gets variations according to food or drink. Thus one exposure of any
acidic food, may lead to alterations in enamel and multiple exposures like this
may lead to a cavity. The tooth cavity may go into deeper layer and cause pain
and swelling. The smaller cavities can be treated with simple methods like
filling and sealants. Painful tooth may need root canal treatment and a crown
over that to protect the week tooth.
-In case of very weak tooth which is broken into pieces may
need extraction (removal) and it can be replaced by denture, dental bridge or
dental implants. Thus keeping the tooth clean can avoid so many dental
problems.
- There are a few chances that food may get stuck in between
teeth and that may increase the chances of mild damage. Throughout the night
mouth does not have any activity of self cleansing with saliva; this may lead
to specific site for food and plaque lodgment which can be cleaned by brushing.
After brushing, the teeth surfaces are clean. So, damage to the tooth can be
minimized.
